Q: What will you never forget about Honorio “Nonie”?
A: He is a steady figure in my life despite the distance.
I am saying this because I lost my grandfather (his brother) when I was a little girl, and he would be one of that particular family member that would link me closest to my grandpa.
Whenever there is a chance to see each other, Lolo Loloy would make sure he gets it and spends time with us.
I would vividly remember the times we visited the States and would stay in their house in Maryland.
He would drive and show us around.
I was with Lolo and my family the first time I saw the White House, watched my first IMAX movie, saw the Foucault Pendulum in DC, etc.
Perhaps these are small to others but are big memories for me that I will cherish.
And finally, when I got married to the love of my life, he again made sure he was there to celebrate with me.
Lolo Loloy, I will never forget your efforts in showing me and my family how you value and treasure us. For making me feel special in ways you might now know you did.
Rest easy and give my hugs and hello to Lolo Samson there.
Always,
Marla

We love you and we’ll miss you Uncle Loloy. He was the brother of my father, Honorato. When he learned that his nephews, niece and grandkids from his siblings, Minerva and Honorato, are in Toronto, Canada, they drove for hours to be with us. In a way, I’m less sad because you’ll be reunited with your whole family. Eternal peace grant unto the soul of Honorio Buquid, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
