Obituary of Larry Campassi
Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry A. Campassi, husband of Barbara Nord Campassi and father of Allyson Rose Campassi and Emilie Ann Campassi, passed away on January 19, 2024 at the age of 65.
Larry was born in Belleville, Illinois on March 26, 1958, the son of Pete Campassi, Jr. and Patsy Rippy Campassi. After attending Good Shepherd School, he graduated from Franklin County High School in 1976 and went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University in 1980. Larry was a walk-on wide receiver his freshman year for the MSU football team, but was awarded a full scholarship for the remaining three years of his collegiate career. Following graduation, he lived for eight years in Houston, Texas before returning to Frankfort, where he worked in outside sales for several companies, ending with 15 years for Holston Gases.
An avid UK sports fan, Larry was well known for his world famous Wildcat Wagon. He also enjoyed live concerts and festivals, boating, and vacations with family and friends, and he always loved a good bourbon. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Frankfort Elks Lodge.
Along with his wife and daughters, Larry is also survived by three brothers, Pete Campassi, III (Claire), Michael Campassi, and Steve Campassi (Dorothy).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in the Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 11:00 am Friday, January 26th with Father Charles Howell officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the service in the Frankfort Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Bauer, Durke Masse, Greg Meyer, John Moses, Ken Rideout, and Wayne Mincey.
Honorary bearers will be Pete Campassi, III, Michael Campassi, Steve Campassi, and Mike Howard.
Flowers are welcomed, while memorial contributions are suggested to the Markey Cancer Center.
