Obituary
Obituary of George Douglas
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George Douglas, born on May 18, 1954 to the late Alfonso L. and Dorothy S. Douglas (Mason) in Frankfort, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020.
George leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 43 years, Rebecca “Becky” Douglas, two daughters – Angel Douglas (Duane Yates) and April Douglas all of Frankfort, KY , one brother – James Henry Douglas (Sandra) of Honolulu, HI, two sisters – Jeanette Walker (the late William Walker, Sr.) and Alysia Douglas (James Washington) both of Frankfort, KY, four grandchildren Aiden White, Avery Douglas, Azaria White all of Frankfort, KY and Raymond White of Lexington, KY and lifelong friend Ronnie Wade of Frankfort, KY, along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Philip Douglas (Diane Douglas) and Glenn Douglas.
George retired from the Commonwealth of KY after 28 years of service and the Frankfort Independent School District after 20 years of service. He also served many families and communities throughout Kentucky while serving as a Funeral Director under Michael Smith of Smith-Jackson Funeral home in Danville, KY. George thoroughly enjoyed driving a school bus for the Frankfort Independent School district because he loved ensuring the children arrived to and from school safely on a daily basis. He was a member of First Baptist church and served on the First Baptist Church usher board, the South Frankfort Community Center board for a few years, and was a 30-year member of the Grad Club, Inc.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and really enjoyed spending time with his beautiful grandchildren. He always made sure that his family came first in everything he did and made it known every day. He shared a special bond with everyone in his family and wanted to make sure each one knew how he felt about them. George is a shining example of what a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend should strive to be. We are happy that he was able to share that with so many people.
Public visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Friday at Rogers Funeral Home. The family will hold a private service following the visitation, which will be shared via Zoom (link below).
