Obituary of Robert Combs
Robert Palmer Combs, 69, of Frankfort, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.
Born in Letcher County on April 25, 1949, Bobby was the son of the late Courtney Allen Combs and Gene Evan Combs. A 1967 graduate of Franklin County High School, he attended Eastern Kentucky University and had also lived in Winchester. He was retired from work at the South Central Bell Company and attended the First Church of God where he volunteered with the Awana program. Bobby was a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, was recognized and honored with a plaque for his outstanding volunteer work at Cove Springs Park, and also volunteered with the men's shelter, soup kitchen, and prison ministry.
Bobby is survived by two daughters, Kristina Lynn Harms and Joy Marisa Blackburn; five grandchildren, Zachary Santangelo, John Jenkins III, Blake Harms, Erika Harms, and Steve Coltin Blackburn; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Chloe Santangelo.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie Gibson Combs; a sister, Lynda Gipson; a brother, Allen Combs; and two grandchildren, Lauren Jenkins and Nick Jenkins.
Services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20th with Brother Tom Denney officiating. Burial will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Steve Harms, Steve Blackburn, Steve Collins, R.L. Hall, John Brawner, and Patrick Compton.
Honorary bearers will be John Jenkins III, Zachary Santangelo, Brian Gipson, and John Baldwin.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Bobby's memory be made to the First Church of God or the American Cancer Society.
