Obituary of Betty Whitton

Betty Joyce Pickett Whitton, 88, a life-long resident of Frankfort, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2018 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Roger Whitton Jr., her parents, Callie Smither Pickett and William H. Pickett, Sr., her sister, Christine Pickett Morrow, and brother, William H. Pickett, Jr.  

She is survived by her three children, Susan Whitton Quarles (Arch), Frankfort, Cathy Whitton Noel, West Palm Beach, and Roger Whitton, III (Rita) Louisville; six grandchildren, Lisa Quarles Stone (Patrick), Chip Quarles (Lee Anne), Andrew Noel (Jennifer), Allison Noel Haag (James), Nancy Whitton Spence (Eric), and Carter Whitton (Chelsea); eight great-grandchildren, Aaron, Chase and Tyler Stone, Griffin Quarles, Norah Noel, Sophie Spence, Madison Haag and soon to arrive Ave Maria Whitton; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Whitton was a long-time member of the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, a DAR member, and belonged to several bridge clubs with dear, life-long friends.  She worked for many years in State government and served as Deputy Clerk of the Supreme Court of Kentucky for over ten years.

She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed.  Services will be held at South Frankfort Presbyterian Church on Sunday, March 25, 2018. Visitation will start at 1:30pm with funeral to follow at 4:00pm.  The Rev. Marian Taylor will officiate.  Burial will be Tuesday, March 27 at 11:00am at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Pall bearers will be the grandsons and great grandsons.  

Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Whitton’s memory are suggested to the Remembrance Trust Fund of the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church.
