Obituary of Samuel J. Bryant, Jr.

Samuel Joseph “Sam” Bryant, Jr, 65, passed away on December 30, 2016 at Bradford Square Nursing Home. He was born December 25, 1951, in Glen Dean, KY to Ada Ann (Clark) Bryant, and the late Samuel Joseph Bryant, Sr. He is survived by his mother and by two sons: Justin Bryant of Murfreesboro TN, and Eric Bryant and wife Natalie of Wethersfield, CT; five grandchildren: Jaxen, Lily, Ivy, Elijah, and Micah Bryant; five sisters; Sharon Horsley (Paul), Barbara Horsley (Max), Kathy Morris (Michael), Cheryl Lynn Bryant, and Nancy Thornhill; and nine nieces and nephews and eight great-nieces and nephews. Sam was a graduate of Breckinridge County High School. He continued his education at Western Kentucky University, and completed his B.S. in Accounting at Kentucky State University. He was a Certified Public Accountant, working in both the private sector and for state government. Sam was very involved with Frankfort Kiwanis Club, serving in many roles including treasurer and president. He was an Elder Emeritus of Highland Christian Church and served in many roles at Bridgeport Christian Church. He was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed reading about history. Services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 12:00 PM at Bridgeport Christian Church with Rev. Keith McAliley presiding. Visitation will start 11:00 am at the church and the graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. There will also be visitation at Rogers Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 4 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Flowers are welcome, or a memorial donation to Bridgeport Christian Church’s Elevator Fund is suggested.
