Gary Edward Davenport, 68, husband of Debbie Games Davenport, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016.
Born in Loyall, Kentucky on January 24, 1948, Gary was the son of the late Dayton and Ethel Davenport. A graduate of Cawood High School in Harlan County, he attended Eastern Kentucky University and was retired from the Blackburn Correctional Complex in Lexington where he served as Deputy Warden. Gary was a member of the Elks Lodge, and enjoyed fishing, traveling, trips to Las Vegas, cruise ships, sports, casinos, and animals.
Along with his wife, Gary is also survived by a daughter, Shellie Davenport; a sister, Peggy Jones (Jack) of Hopkinsville; a brother, Charles Davenport (Peggy) of Ft. Meyers, Florida; and two grandchildren, Christian and Reese Griffin. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Joe Davenport (Jerris) and Richard Davenport (Doris), both of Harlan County.
A memorial service will be held in Rogers Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Friday, with burial following in the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service on Friday, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Contributions in Gary's memory are suggested to the Franklin County Humane Society, L.I.F.E. House for Animals, the American Diabetes Association, or the American Heart Association.
