I would like to offer my condolences to the Stivers family. I know Jim has left his friends and loved ones (Robin) with many precious memories and will be greatly missed. Hopefully this scripture will give you comfort because Jehovah God (Psalm 83:18) is promising us he will do away with man's worst enemy, death. This is found for us at Rev. 21: 4; "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." For more comforting scriptures please visit: http://bit.ly/1K38EFt. It has given me hope, strengthened my faith and helped me find the answer to Why? I know it will do the same for you. God's kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matthew 6: 9, 10 will bring about these wonderful promises including the resurrection. John 6: 40 tells us: "For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day." This is a wonderful promise made to us by our heavenly father and I pray it brings you comfort and hope. Jehovah invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. Again, I offer my sincere condolences to the family. Jim Stivers was my father. Though we were not close in my adult years we spent my childhood visiting my grandparents on weekends there in Frankfort, KY. He taught me to hunt and fish at 6 and I still find great relaxation in trout fishing. He taught me to swim, drive a boat, and we observed nature in the hours we spent on the KY River. Those things are still a huge part of who I am today. Dad was a member of The Bass Masters Association, a City Commissioner, and the son of the KY State Magistrate (for many years) Charlie Stivers and wife LaVisha Stivers. He is survived by his son Brent Stivers, and had another daughter Fara Stivers RN, who died unexpectedly a few years ago in a car accident. He also has 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. We will all be without him now for the rest of our lives. If I take anything with me from him now, it will be the knowledge that nobody knows what tomorrow holds, and to never take another sunrise for granted. Goodbye Dad. You can rest easy now.

I was so very sorry to read of Mr. Stivers' death. While we never met, I was a big fan of his letters to the editor and columns in the State-Journal newspaper. I feel he was a friend to me and others whether technically-speaking we actually knew each other. My opinion was he was a fine man and I am saddened to read of his passing.

Jim was a good man.He cared deeply about his fellow man. Especially the poor, uneducated and misfortunate people. Jim fought for those who couldn't help themselves.
Jim was a great fisherman and outdoorsman.
Jim was an inventor and businessman.
He was a dear friend to me and a great mentor. His advice was priceless.
I will always remember you and I only regret that we didn't spend more time together in the last couple of years.
Sincerely your friend
Kevin Colston
