Obituary of Nedra Diane Lundberg

Ms. Nedra Diane Lundberg, 75, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016. She was born on December 4, 1940 to the late Doris Nedra Fulwider Lundberg and Ralph Gorge Lundberg. The oldest of five children, Nedra grew up on the family farm in South Dakota, just west of the Missouri River breaks. She attended grade school at Halva School and graduated from Gregory High School as valedictorian in 1958. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of South Dakota in 1962, and then attended the University of Kentucky where she earned a Masters in English and completed doctoral work. She taught at Chico State College in California for two years before teaching English at Kentucky State University until she retired in 2005. At her retirement she received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters. Ms. Lundberg served on many KSU committees, including the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education self-studies and the university's self-study and institutional report for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools where she served as Associate Director. She also served as President of the Kentucky Philological Association and the KY-TN American Studies Association. She was an active member of the Church of the Ascension, Night Circle, and Episcopal Church Women and served as Chair of Pastoral Care for several years. Ms. Lundberg is survived by her four siblings and their spouses: Gary (Ruth), George (Lynn), Sonja (Dick), and Gregg (Pat); 11 nieces and nephews, and 22 great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the Church of the Ascension at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24. A reception will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Rogers Funeral Home.
