Obituary of Michael Dale Barnes

Services for Michael Dale Barnes will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, Frankfort, with his daughter, Tracy Barnes Huelsman, eulogizing his life, and the Rev. Bill Hartung presiding. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit and celebrate his life Monday at Rogers Funeral Home, Frankfort, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Mike was born in Frankfort, March 15, 1951, and was the son of Kenneth Coleman Barnes and Jean Watkins Barnes. He is survived by his mother, Jean Barnes, of Frankfort; his daughters, Tracy Barnes Huelsman (Chris), of Louisville, and Genna Ann Barnes Cook, of Lexington; his grandchildren, Shelby Marie Huelsman and Logan Marshall Huelsman; Donald Jay Sudduth, stepson, of Frankfort, and his children, Nicholas Carter Sudduth and Lauren Kate Sudduth. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School and was retired from Kentucky State Government, The Cabinet for Human Resources. He loved his family and friends, good food, good music, Reds baseball, history, being at Keeneland and in nature, especially around Elkhorn Creek. He passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Pallbearers will be Chris Huelsman, Tony Cook, Jay Sudduth, Brenden Sullivan, Jeff Duncan, Rick Hogan, David Hecker and Scott Barnett. Honorary pallbearers will be Shelby Huelsman, Logan Huelsman, Nick Sudduth, Lauren Sudduth, David Hartung, John Barber and John Barnett.
