On February 16, 2016, heaven became that much more beautiful.
Chuck Cotton left an indelible print on this world and a lifelong legacy. It would seem that the key to life is just truly believing and trusting in God, sitting down for dinner with our family every night at 6 pm at a picnic style kitchen table in order to hold as many family members and welcome as many friends as possible.
And that was 513 Shelby Street...Chuck and Margo's...home to everyone, and to me. If that table could talk, it would solve the world's problems. If you were a college student on a Sunday (before fancy meal plans existed) and had enough gas to drive from UK...there was a great meal, kind words and good business and Christian advice. There was always a scoop of peanut butter for Bill Reinig ("Billyo", sp) Endless small slivers of Margo's chocolate Christmas pie, which didn't count as long as you made the circle through the family room, entry way and back into the kitchen. (That was Chuck's rule) And the squeaky pantry door that could reveal your identity from the family room or late at night.
Life really is that simple, now that we're older. God and family. And goofy memories and retold stories. ( "Die Fish Die"). I'm eternally grateful to Chuck for always making sure that my job was secure at the Dept. of Housing for Spring/Summer/Christmas Breaks. Without that job, it wouldn't have been possible for me to obtain my degree at UK. Truly.
Thank you Chuck and Margo and family for the positive impact you've had on my life and my family. God's Speed Chuck.
On Eagles Wings,
Helen Tanner Cornett and Family

I (Kyle) only got to know Mr. Cotton for a short time before I myself attended VMI. He was there for my letter of intent signing for the Keydets football team and I'll never forget how much that meant to me. He was caring and took interest in another small town Kentucky boy walking along a similar path that he himself walked when he was younger. Many people in life don't slow down to take the opportunity to have an impact on someone, even a short one. Though I only knew Mr. Cotton for a brief time, it didn't take me past the first time I met him to know that he was a man that had seen a lot of things and that he had a genuine love for people. Me and my wife Taylor want to send our condolences and I would like to say that Mr. Cotton will always be remembered for the act of kindness he portrayed to me.
From one Army brother to another- HOOAH!

I am holding ALL the Cottons in my heart and prayers - and there are many. I love each of you in a special way. I sure love Chuck and Margo as they have been in my life for almost as long as I can remember. Chuck...what a towering presence yet the most humble of men. He is one of a few men who I can honestly say lived as Christian a life as you'll see. And, not to mention -- the best-looking middle aged man in Frankfort (inside joke). Hugs and kisses and I'll see you all this evening.
