Robert (Bob) E. Lines, 94, of Frankfort, KY (formerly of Connersville, Indiana), passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, Frankfort, Ky.
He was born July 3, 1921 in Connersville, IN to Clarence E. Lines and Anna (May) Lines. He was the widower of Rubye J. (Knight) Lines, whom he was married to for 64 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carl H. Lines, and a nephew, David L. Lines. A 1940 graduate of Connersville High School, Connersville, IN, he was employed at American Kitchens prior to WWII and returned there after serving in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sergeant from August 1942 to November 1945. After the closure of American Kitchens, he began his own business initially as a photographer and later began to sell music, which transformed the business into what was well known as Lines Camera & Record Shop beginning in February 1959 until his retirement in 1997.
Robert (Bob) was a long-time member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Connersville, IN and attended Second Street Presbyterian Church after moving to Frankfort, KY and eventually settled at First Presbyterian Church of Frankfort, KY where he remained a member for the remainder of his life.
Robert (Bob) had many interests and was involved in numerous organizations. While in Connersville, IN he was a lifetime member of Warren Lodge #15 F.&A.M., Knights Templar, Scottish Rite, and Eastern Star. He was also a long-time member of the Connersville Kiwanis Club, serving as President and two terms as Lieutenant Governor, and the American Legion Post #1. He was an avid sailor and also had a great interest in stamp collecting. After moving to Frankfort, he became a member of the East Side Kiwanis Club and the Frankfort Stamp Club.
Survivors include two sons, Gary E. (Jane) Lines and Stuart L. Lines, both of Frankfort; two grandsons, Jeremy E. Lines and Justin M. (Mari Beth) Lines; two great-grandsons, Jacob and James Lines; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday followed by interment in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Rogers Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m Tuesday with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. The lodge will open at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Rev. Sandy Lacey will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Lines, Justin Lines, Paul Settle, Dean Settle, Neal Settle, and Nicholas Settle. Honorary bearers will be Jacob and James Lines.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the First Presbyterian Churches of Frankfort, KY and Connersville, IN.
