Obituary of Anita Brewer

Anita L Brewer passed away on April 16, 2013, at the age of 92; a resident of Frankfort, KY before moving to live with her daughter in Kenner, LA in 2009. Anita is preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Gladys Sudduth, five siblings, and her husband Clyde “Joe” Brewer, who she was married to for 65 years. She is survived by her daughter Linda B. Mallard of Kenner, LA and her husband Clark Mallard, granddaughter Heather Rene’ Cordes of Slidell, LA and her husband James Cordes and her favorite great grandson Hunter Nicholas Cordes. She is also survived by a host of relatives. Anita was the last of five siblings. Four were her brothers, Johnny, Kenny, Shirley, and Billy and one sister, Maxine. She was a prominent caregiver to her siblings growing up. When Joe completed his tour of duty in the Pacific Campaign during WWII, Anita had a premonition he was returning and was waiting for him at the Frankfort train station. Anita was known by several as “Nini”, a name that was affectionally passed down to her great-grandson by his mother. Anita did many things in her life time including sewing clothes for Linda. Anita was also an excellent artist, winning awards in the 1970’s and early 1980’s while living in New Jersey. She enjoyed traveling on different jobs with Joe for years of extended stay within the United States and in Iraq, Iran and Brazil. She worked with ladies in Iraq providing clothing, school supplies and book forchildren. Anita and Joe traveled around the worldfor 38 days before retiring to Frankfort, Kentucky in 1984. She and her husband Joe were members of the Fellowship Christian church in Frankfort, Ky.Anita will be missed by her family and surviving friends and relatives. Today she resides in heaven with God. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, in Rogers Funeral Home, with interment following in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
