Obituary of Catherine McDowell

Catherine Osborne McDowell, widow of Rube McDowell, died at the home of her daughter, Judie Harrod, on Monday, February 23, 2015. Private services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home, followed by burial in the Monterey Cemetery in Owen County. The services will be performed by two of her grandsons, Buddy Semones and Rusty Harrod. Catherine was born in Owen County on August 22, 1916, to the late Martha Wilhoite Osborne and William Allen Osborne. She was also preceded in death by her brother, J.R. Osborne; her two sisters, Edna Osborne and Frances Walker; and her two sons-in-law, Alvin Semones and Forrest Harrod, Jr. Catherine was a 1934 graduate of Owen County High School. She retired from the Frankfort Plant Board in 1981 after 25 years of service. She was a Charter Member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. Catherine is survived by her three daughters Barbara McDowell Semones, Judith McDowell Harrod, and Mickie McDowell. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Kimberly Semones (Ricky) Casey, Martie Semones (Gary) Kupchinsky, Regina Semones (Rick) Shields, Buddy (Sonya) Semones, Russell McDowell (Nancy) Harrod, Laura Catherine Harrod, Michael Rube McDowell (Jennifer) Harrod, Jennifer Harrod Parkinson, Robert (Kerri) Devers III, Edward Ryan Devers, and Anne Feldman (Tim) Turner; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Christian Newton and Pam Skaggs. Pallbearers will be Rusty Harrod, Michael Harrod, Brandon Harrod, Spencer Harrod, Rick Shields, and Robbie Devers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association or the charity of your choice.
