Obituary of Minnie Lynn Sower

Minnie Lynn Evans Sower, wife of Frank W. Sower, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013. The daughter of Minnie Elizabeth Williams and Joseph Ashby Evans, she was born in Ancon, Canal Zone on January 17, 1911. She came to Frankfort in 1935 to become a Secretary to Judge E. C. O'Rear and Allen Prewitt.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the Pollyanna Sunday School Class, the Colonial Dames of America, Chapter IX, The Kentucky National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Susannah Hart Shelby Chapter, NSDAR, and served as Chaplain of the Kentucky Society, NSDAR, from 1983-86. She has been a member of the Garden Club of Frankfort since 1953 and a member of the Woman's Club of Frankfort for a number of years.
Mrs. Sower is survived by three children and their spouses: Frank W. Sower, Jr. (Judy Hatton Sower), Lynn Chenault Bufkin (Mike Dale Bufkin), and John Rodman Sower (Phyllis Mattingly Sower); nine grandchildren: Scott Allen Sower, David Hatton Sower, Peter Christian Sower, Amanda Elizabeth Sower Smith, Julie Lynn Bufkin Williams, Andrew Dale Bufkin, John R. Sower III, Thomas Edward Sower, and Frank "Will" Sower III; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Curraleen Rice, and two brothers, Joe A. Evans and Overton Evans.
Services will be held in the First Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Frankfort Cemetery.
Dr. Robert Browning will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Sower's grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to your favorite charity or to First Baptist Church, 201 St. Clair Street, Frankfort, KY 40601.
