Obituary of Tezeta Lynes

Tezeta Gabriel Lynes, 75, passed away on September 20, 2024. Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on August 12, 1949, she was the daughter of Wolde Gabriel Chengere and Asede Areru. She was a graduate of Nazareth School in Addis Ababa, Middle East College in Beirut, Lebanon, and then received a graduate degree in education at Western Michigan University, and a graduate degree in Library Science from Andrews University.
Tezeta sold books in Norway during the summer while attending Middle East College, worked as a librarian at Kentucky State University, and was a law librarian at the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, and was Branch Manager at the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives, where she worked until she retired.
Tezeta was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church where she led children's programs. She enjoyed gardening and her houseplants, reading, traveling, and staying active by attending yoga class and walking four miles a day.
Tezeta is survived by her husband Eric Lynes; daughter Rahel Basse; son Solomon Gabriel; and sister Hannah Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her daughter Astaire Lynes, son Basliel Gabriel, and sister Sablou Gabriel.
Services will be held at Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 1st at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery. Pastor Dana Edmond will officiate the services. The service will be available virtually at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84625827264 (copy and paste link).
Pallbearers will be Dwight Lynes, Keith Polk, Simon Jacob, Cecil Goodwin, Samiel Basse, and Lyndon Rowan.
Honorary Bearers will be Jason Williams and Cory Lynes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House.
