Obituary of Virginia Barnard

Virginia Lee "Jinks" O'Rear Barnard, widow of V. O. "Barney" Barnard, Jr., died peacefully at home on July 12, 2023 at the age of 95. The daughter of the late James B. and Agnes Saffell O'Rear, she was born in Frankfort and graduated from Margaret Hall School in Versailles and Hollins College in Virginia. While in Virginia, she met her beloved husband and their marriage lasted 61 years. She was a long-time member of the Church of the Ascension.
Waiting to welcome her home were her husband, parents, son V. O. "Tad" Barnard, III, sisters Pat O'Rear Perry and Nancy O'Rear Dunstall, and host of friends and other relatives. She is survived by her daughters Pat Barnard and Lee Barnard, her son Jim Barnard, and her daughter-in-law Carla West Barnard. She is also survived by grandchildren Katherine Barnard Secrist, V. O. "Ty” Barnard, IV, Anna Barnard LeMay (Sam), James O. "Jas" Barnard, Jr., five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and several much-loved nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the loving care provided to her by Cathy Spencer and Darlene Penn.
There will be no visitation. Private graveside services will be held in the Frankfort Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to either Bluegrass Care Navigators, 642 Teton Trail, Frankfort, KY, or to the Senior Citizens Home Delivered Meals program, 202 Medical Heights Drive, Frankfort, KY.
