Obituary of Jenny Clay

Jenny Juergens Clay passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at her home after a long illness. She was born November 4, 1930 in Sutton, West Virginia to Elmer Leroy Juergens and Kelsey Byrd Juergens. She was a graduate of Sutton High School (1948) and Louisville General School of Nursing. Along with her parents, Jenny was also preceded in death by her husband John Buchanan Clay, MD and her siblings Henry Juergens, Nancy Givens, Helen Gumm, and John Juergens. Jenny was a member of the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir and chaperoned many mission trips with the youth group. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader, Volunteer Camp Nurse at Camp Judy Lane, and Former Board Member of the Wilderness Road Girl Scout Council. She was an avid Bridge player, reader, wildflower enthusiast, gardener, hiker, and traveler. Jenny is survived by her daughters, Jane Buchanan Clay, DMD of Frankfort, KY and Sally Clay Maggard (Karl) of Paris, KY; one sister, Mary Theresa Potter of Baytown, TX; her granddaughter, Colleen Clay Maggard Potter (Will) of Lexington, KY; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Rogers Funeral Home at 4:00 pm on Friday, December 9th, with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made toward South Frankfort Presbyterian Church Remembrance Trust Fund, 224 Steele St, Frankfort, KY 40601.
