Obituary of Juanita Gilbert
Please share a memory of Juanita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Juanita “Nita” Gilbert was born on November 22, 1947 to the late James and Zorada Carpenter. She went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022. She was the epitome of a small town, simple, God-fearing, country girl. She was a “tad bit” stubborn, a creature of habit, and a tremendous fighter.
Nita loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. She was a staunch supporter of the military, law enforcement, and first responders.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Willeta Wright; and her brothers, William “Buddy” Carpenter, Ernie Carpenter, and Edward Carpenter.
She was happily married to James “Jimmy” Gilbert for 30 years. In 1978 they started a small business in Frankfort where they worked together daily until his untimely death over 25 years ago. She loved listening to Elvis and The Gaithers, watching UK basketball, fishing with her husband, and spending time with her family and friends.
Nita is survived by two boys, John (Megan) Gilbert and Jason (Jenny) Gilbert. She had 9 precious grandchildren: Eli, Carly, John Thomas, Isaac, Jude, and Selah; Carter, Cora Lee, and Elizabeth.
Visitation will be at Rogers Funeral Home from 9:30-11:00 am on Friday, September 2, 2022 with a service beginning at 11:00 am. A committal service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her sons John and Jason, and oldest grandsons Eli, Carter, John Thomas, and Isaac. Jude Gilbert will serve as an honorary bearer.
