Obituary of Elizabeth Barrett Aitken Perkins
Elizabeth Barrett (Aitken) Perkins died in Frankfort, Ky. following a long illness on November 4th, 2017 at the age of 68.
Elizabeth is survived by her parents, Kenneth P. and Myra Aitken of Frankfort, Ky.; a brother, Kenneth Aitken Jr, of Georgetown, Ky.; and a daughter, Mary Perkins, of Columbus, Ohio.
Elizabeth was born on January 12th, 1949 in Frankfort, Ky to Kenneth and Myra. She graduated from Frankfort High School as Salutatorian in 1967 and went on to graduate from Purdue University in 1971 with a degree in Chemistry. After moving to Akron, Ohio, Elizabeth began working for B.F. Goodrich as a Chemist. Seven years later, she and her husband welcomed one child into their home, and she then set about teaching high school math and science. Her family remembers her as a patient and loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Elizabeth was an accomplished teacher, flutist, golfer and swimmer. She was a witty individual who loved physical sciences and who was passionate about educating students. She was a dedicated member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a founding member of the Frankfort High School girls golf team, and the first editor of Frankfort High School Literary Magazine. She also participated in several community choirs and bands, and was a skilled Bridge player.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017 at Rogers Funeral Home followed by burial in the Frankfort Cemetery. Viewing will be available from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Wednesday. Rev. Jack Brewer will officiate the services. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Elizabeth’s life.
Pallbearers will be Bob Amato, Bill Amato, Jim DeShazer, Jeff Rogers, Scott Aitken, and Alan Dorton.
