Obituary of Robert Karsner

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Lee Karsner departed this world on June 6, 2026 at his home surrounded by his wife Wanda and family. Robert was born on July 10, 1931 in Monterey, Kentucky to the late Kenneth and Sylvia Grisham Karsner. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wanda Mayes Karsner; two children, Larry Kent Karsner (Yvonne) of Owenton, KY and Cindy Herring (John) of Kingsland, GA; step-children Linda Cummins, Debbie Taylor (Dave), Wanda Marie Dean (Glenn) and Sandra Karsner (Tommy), of Frankfort, KY, Sue Carol Mayes of Venice, FL, and Brenda Moore of Deerfield, OH; as well as several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; cousins; and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Billy Claude Karsner and step-children Roylin Jr. Lacy and Vickie Lynn Rogers. Robert was a 1950 graduate of Owen County High School and then attended Georgetown College before enlisting in the Army where he served from 1953-1955 primarily in Germany. Robert worked as a farmer, a bank teller in Monterey and Walton, KY, Central Screw in Frankfort, KY, school bus driver, owner and operator of Karsner's Grocery in Monterey, and as an Auditor of County Clerks Offices for the Ky. Dept of Transportation. Although he held numerous jobs throughout his life, his true calling was to serve the Lord. He was ordained into the ministry on September 20, 1981, and was minister of Mt. Carmel Church for 32 years. Following his retirement from the church, his call to serve the Lord and Savior was not over. He had the opportunity to preach several revivals and conduct numerous weddings and funerals during his life on this earth. He was a God-Fearing man and loved the Lord more than life itself. In Robert's pastimes he was an avid golfer and member of Juniper Hills Golf Course for many years, known to all his friends as Bro. Bob. His last golf outing was on his 92nd birthday in 2023. He also loved watching UK basketball and growing a garden in his backyard. Robert will be missed by all his family and friends and will be laid to rest in the Monterey Cemetery following services. A funeral in celebration of his life will be held at Rogers Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 10th, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Bluegrass Care Navigators or the Monterey Cemetery Fund.
