Obituary of Rick Hardy
Please share a memory of Rick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frederick (Rick) Corbett Hardy III passed away October 4, 2025. Rick was born in Tyler, Texas on April 21, 1946 to the late Frederick Corbett Hardy II and Alma Ruth Nelson Hardy. Rick graduated from Franklin County High School in 1964. After attending Tyler Jr. College and Western KY University, Rick moved to Houston, Texas with the intention of pursuing a career in architecture. His plans were interrupted when he was drafted into the Army, where he served for two years, including a year in Vietnam where he was awarded a Bronze Star. At various times in his life he continued studies at the University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University, focusing on art and history.
Rick is best known as a talented designer and builder whose unique home designs have been featured in several publications, including most recently Frank Magazine. Rick was also known for his fine custom furniture. Throughout his life Rick was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, movies and traveling the world, and was especially fond of the numerous cats that shared his life.
Rick is survived by three sisters, Barbara Snyder (Larry), Ruth Webb (Jim), and Laura Hargis (Gerry); nieces Sarah Hargis and Emily Davidson (Kyle); and great-niece Katelyn Hargis; as well as by his long-time close friend and business partner Dan Peffer.
Per his request Rick’s ashes will be interred at Camp Nelson in a private ceremony. Arrangements are being handled by Rogers Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Franklin County Humane Society, 100 Companion Place, Frankfort 40601.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the Frankfort Plant Board Clubhouse, 98 Tanglewood Dr., from 2- 5 PM.
